Name

My name is Emmanuel, and the story of why they gave me this name is just funny to me. My dad is a huge fan of a Mexican singer name Emmanuel and well that’s how I got my name. He said that he made a pact with a friend that they would name one of their kids Emmanuel, and that’s what he did. I’m thankful that they gave me this name because in some way I will always have a part of my dad and what he liked, and in case you were wondering I also like the music of that singer but not as much as my dad. The meaning of my name is "God is with us". It is a biblical name that was first written in the Old Testament, in the Old Testament it has something to do with the birth of the messiah. The popularity of this name is not very high in the U.S its rank at 171 in popular names in the U.S.
My last name is Gavino, and it comes from Italy. I really like my last name because it’s not really popular. My dad tells me that we come from Italy because my grandfather told him that two generations before them they use to live over there but they moved to México for some reason. It doesn't have that much story because it’s not very popular. Its meaning is “White Hawk” or “Little Falcon”. I haven’t met anyone the same last name except for all my family of course.
If they gave me the opportunity to change my name I would say no because I like my name. I would never change my name, because I was given that name and it will stay with me. I love the meaning of my name and the fact that is not a very popular name it makes it better for me. More importantly I consider my name a gift of my parents, a gift that will stay with me for all my life. I also would not change my surname because I think is a cool surname and because it’s not very popular, I’m sure that many of you would of not know this last name until now, and that’s what I like about it.

  1. Just like yours, I want to name my kid in the future Enzo after Enzo Ferrari. I think it's a nice name I wouldn't mind my name to be that one.

  3. My mom also named me after someone famous. Instead of a singer my mom named me after an actor.

  4. It is funny how you got your name from a singer your dad loved and the pact he made with his friend. I liked how you said you wouldn't change your name because to you that’s a present that was given to you from your parents and will stay with you for the rest of your life.

  5. I like the meaning of your last name “White Hack” or “Little Falcon”, either one, both of them are great. Also my father moved from Italy to Mexico, and I have no idea why. It’s great to hear not only my family moved there too.

  7. You know many people are named after a famous person, a person i used to know in high school was named after one of the phoenix suns cheer leaders. Foreign names intrigue me on so many levels, the region, the past, and the upbringing are so appealing in a mysterious aspect

  9. To have a piece of your dad with you is an awesome thing, like I carry my grandfathers names with me. Your name is your identity and I'm glad you wouldn't change it

  10. I also got part of my name from someone famous because of an actor my mom really liked. Funny thing, my last name is also of Italian origin.
